Mama Says

You've heard of "Simon Says." During dinner we like to play "Mama Says." I ask Henry to say things and he obliges. He's getting so good at it that sometimes I don't even have to ask. At Target while walking down the Elmo aisle, Henry points and shouts "LA LA LA LA!" the entire time. What a brilliant boy!

A Belated Birthday Bash

Last weekend we celebrated Henry's belated birthday with Papa, Mimi, and Zia. We spent Saturday doing the "usual": playing at the park, enjoying frozen yogurt, and reading lots of books.

On Sunday afternoon we got our party on! Henry wore the most ridiculous/hilarious birthday crown that Zia gave him. Henry received some great toys and books, and we will enjoy storing them in his brand new beautiful wooden toy box! I am pretty excited to turn the romper room back into the living room.

After presents we tried birthday cake one more time. This time I made banana cupcakes for my little banana lover (sans frosting for my little frosting hater). It didn't make a difference. He hated it! We also tried ice cream for the first time. It went over a little better, but, alas, it still ended up on the floor. I know one day he will enjoy sweets. For now, I'll just have to embrace the fact that the boy loves beans n' greens.

Mama's Day

Thanks to my boys, I had a wonderful Mother's Day. It started with Dada letting me sleep in, and if you know me, you know that is a pretty fabulous gift. Not to be outdone, Henry gave me a card and a bouquet of flowers. We enjoyed brunch at the West Egg Cafe (brown sugar bacon and red velvet whoopie pies for breakfast? Yes, please!) and a stroll around town. Later in the afternoon we relaxed poolside, where Henry showed off some of his swim lesson skills. For dinner, Gus insisted I take the night off so he "cooked" - by that I mean he did a fine job ordering my favorite Chinese take-out. Before bed, Henry decided he had one last gift in store for me: he took his first steps! Just like crawling, he had to be enticed, but this time it was by the remote. Typical man.

It was a memorable Mother's Day, a day that reminded me how very blessed I am to be Henry's Mama.
