Deck the Apartment!

When all of your Christmas decor is packed away, you buy a Charlie Brown tree.  John said it best - "Mama, our tree isn't the biggest, but it's the fanciest to me."

We may not have had all of our Christmas decor, but we stuck to our Christmas Tree Party traditions - Christmas music was playing, new jammies were on, and "fancy" Pepperidge Farm cookies with hot cocoa were enjoyed for dessert.

Four Little Turkeys

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Aunt Mary and Uncle Bobby's house in Middle Georgia.  The kids got a cute picture.  Our family did not, but we tried.  It was quite the feast.  Oddly enough not one of my kids likes turkey.  Peter won the award for the best eater (and he was the only kid who actually tried the turkey).  Henry was a close second, based solely on the amount of vegetables he ate.  John and Frances are by far my pickiest kids.  No one was picky when dessert came out though - we had donuts for Uncle Bobby's 70th birthday!

An Update on The Flooded House

Sometime during this process, our kids started calling our house "the flooded house." And now it has stuck. But there is good news for the flooded house - We have a roof! And windows! And Easter egg yellow siding (that will be painted)! And walls! And this week, we’re getting brick and tile! It's taking longer than we thought, but I hear that's common during house renovations (especially when you gut an entire house!). Last Saturday marked six months in the apartment. Gus and I are eager to get back to the house, but these four don’t seem to be in any hurry.
