Peter is 6 months old!

Likes: Getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth, pushing myself backwards across the floor, being held as close to my Mama as physically possible, planking, chewing on my whole fist, playing peek-a-boo, grabbing hair or earrings, and being sung to in Italian.

Dislikes: Being distracted when I'm nursing, face-planting the ground when I'm trying to sit up on my own, riding in the car, and having to sit still long enough to have my picture taken.

Growth: I weigh 17 lbs., and I am 27 and 1/2 inches long. This puts me in the 50th percentile for weight and the 80th percentile for height. I only had a small weight gain this month, thanks to my intense cardio-crawling routine. Mama is going to feed me some real food soon, and I can't wait to get my grub on!

Yo ho ho!

We went to Perrydise last weekend for a Pirate Party with the Boydston crew. We celebrated some birthdays and Nanna's almost-retirement. Aunt Mary and Aunt Elaine were the master party planners. I love me a good theme party, and they certainly know how to throw one. The costumes, the menu, the entertainment, and goodie bags that were personalized inside and out. Take that, Pinterest!

Henry and John spent the weekend in the pool and playing with trains, planes, and cars. Peter spent the weekend being held and snuggled by everyone.  All three buccaneers were sad when it was time to head home.

What does this look like?

Trouble.  Not even six months, and he's trying to crawl.  I think he wants to attack those trains with drool.

Back to the Books!

Today was Henry's first day of his last year of preschool. He was excited about three things - wearing his new shoes, playing on the "big kid" playground at recess, and being in the same class with his old friend, Maysie. When we arrived at school, Henry ran straight to his classroom.  Not even a goodbye. Thankfully I made it back to the car before John asked, "Where's my Henry?" We cried it out together.

Henry's Special Day

With school approaching, I decided it was time for a special day with Henry. First we met his teachers. They gave him a new pair of sunglasses, so I spent the rest of my day with Elton John.

Next stop was the train museum. Just as we were about to head in, a real diesel engine came chugging down the tracks. Henry waved enthusiastically at the conductor. The conductor waved back and blew the horn, at which point Henry stopped waving. Hands on ears - "That's way too loud, Mama!"

We spent the next two hours playing trains and listening to the story of the Great Locomotive Chase. He was the perfect date, even opening a few doors for me. Henry wanders through the museum like an old man - quietly observing with his hands clasped behind his back.

Eventually "tummy was rumbling," so I asked him where he would like to go for lunch. "The place with the biscuits and toys!" Cracker Barrel, it was. We played and ate and enjoyed an uninterrupted afternoon together. I sure will miss my boy when he's at school for five whole days a week.
