Henry is 7 years old!

Likes: Reading (I become lost in books. I once read a 528 page book in one day. I am one proud book worm.), Legos (my second love - if I'm not reading, then I am building my own lego creations and imagining epic battles between them.), potty jokes, anything related to Ninjago or Batman, Michael Jackson songs and KidzBop, eating hotdogs, tacos, vegetables, rice, spaghetti, and mac-n-cheese, going to the park or the library, playing soccer or kickball after school, reading books to my little sister (one of my favorite nightly activities), drawing and writing comic books, losing things (I am like the absent minded professor. I am constantly losing my glasses, waterbottle, sweatshirt, etc.), wrestling with Daddy, and tying my own shoes (Now that I know how, I do NOT want any help.), and playing with my best friends, Tucker and Garrett.

Dislikes: Being interrupted when I am reading, having my Lego creations broken by younger siblings (I won't name names), sleeping in (I wake up before 6AM every day), eating anything that's even mildly spicy, throwing away anything (I am a hoarder. I save broken trinkets from a birthday party that I went to when I was 4 years old), and drinking milk.

Growth: I weigh 55 pounds and I am 52 inches tall. This puts me in the 65th percentile for weight and off the charts for height. I expect to be taller than my Mama in three years, and taller than my Nanna next year!

And of course, our annual interview tradition! Some of Henry's answers made me laugh, and some made me want to cry because they were so darn sweet.

Henry's 7th Birthday

On Henry's 7th birthday, he requested Lego Batman everything and M&M pancakes for breakfast. This made John and Peter quite happy, but Frances was not interested. The boys could not understand how she chose a Belvita Breakfast Biscuit over candy covered pancakes!

That afternoon, we had Henry's Lego Birthday Party at our neighborhood clubhouse. Henry invited all the boys from his class, a few neighborhood boys, and his cousin, Reagan. A Lego company actually came to the party and provided all the Lego entertainment - Lego games, a Lego scavenger hunt, building competitions, and a motorized build. Elementary age boys love their Legos, and this was by far the quietest birthday party we have ever hosted, thanks to all the Lego building. Peter and Frances (and Aunt Mary and Uncle Bobby) got in on the Lego building too. At the end of the party, we enjoyed some snacks, and Henry's cake. Henry doesn't really like cake, so he requested a cookie cake. It's the first time I made a birthday cake and cut the entire cake up before serving it at a party, and had to put it all back together again. Henry loved it and has requested even more complex Lego designs for his cookie cake next year.

After the party, we went out to dinner with Nanna, Pa, Aunt Mary, Uncle Bobby, Amy, and Reagan. Henry wanted his favorite meal - a hot dog. He's a simple guy with simple taste. We went to Cook Out, where Henry had a hot dog, fries, and a milkshake. John enjoyed every last spoonful of his milkshake. And Peter took care of feeding Frances for us so we could enjoy our milkshakes. After dinner, we came back home so that Henry could open his presents - Legos and more Legos! And this awesome marble game from his cousin, Reagan. It was a full day of birthday celebrating, Legos, and sugar!
