A Day in the Life
Today we survived the dentist, the post office, Costco, and Publix. All before 12pm. And we only got stopped by inquiring senior citizens 6 times. I have the script down by now - "Yes, I have my hands full. Yes, they are all mine. No, they are not twins. Yes, I got a girl. But I really just wanted four kids."

First Day of Summer
A new Makris family record - It only took two hours into summer vacation for the “we will get along t-shirt” to be worn. And you better believe that I made them hug like they meant it.

School's Out!
Today was the last day of school. The boys had a great year in kindergarten and second grade, so you'll have to excuse my parental bragging for a moment. John was tested at the end of the year, and he scored in the 99th percentile in all categories - mental ability, math, and reading. He literally could not have scored any higher! These scores earned him a spot in the gifted program next year. And Henry's teacher held an award ceremony at their end-of-the-year party, where she gave them photo frames with adjectives that describe them. I could not have been more proud of Henry's award - intelligent, nice, studious, calm, and polite. As tradition calls, we met the boys at the bus stop today with silly string. Poor Frances Anne kept up with her tradition of crying every year too. I can't tell if she hates silly string, or she just hates all the chaos and screaming that comes with it!

Goodbye Baby Bed!
To everything there is a season. One crib. Four babies. Eight years.

Also, Peter finally said goodbye to his toddler bed. He has been sleeping in his little bed since he was booted from the crib when he was 18 months old. We never had the space in our old house or in the apartment to give him a twin bed. Now he has his own room with his own big bed in it. He thinks he won the lottery. And yes, his pillow speaks the truth - Peter is most definitely country as a biscuit.

Henry's First Holy Communion
Today we celebrated Henry Augustus as he received his First Holy Communion (and wore his first necktie!) Afterwards, we went back to our house for a celebration with all of our favorite Makris party traditions - punch, Coca-Cola in the bottle, mexican food, and lots of sweets. Aunt Elaine was even sweet enough to ship us a box of her famous cookies, which made Henry's day.
Thank you to our family and friends who celebrated with us, from near and from far. And thanks be to God for this dear boy and his growing faith.

John's Poetry Parade
Today we watched John perform with his kindergarten class in the Poetry Parade. Each class recited two poems, and then performed a song at the end. John secretly likes to perform, even though he would never admit it. In the days before the performance, I would hear him singing the songs in his bed at night after we tucked him in. Papou and Grandma were in town on the day of the show, so they attended too. After the show, we went back to John's classroom for cake. One of his friends shouted, "John! I am about to eat your head!", but we got a quick photo first. And on the way out of school, we even stopped by Henry's classroom for a quick hello.

Sugar Quills!
This is probably the most unconventional First Communion gift. But Henry’s Godparents just made his Harry Potter dreams come true. Thank you Uncle Chris and Aunt Stacie!
