Easter Sunday

On Easter, we managed to get four kids dressed in their Sunday best and to church on time (which really means showing up 45 minutes before mass to get a seat). We did have Papa, Mimi, and Zia to help us, so they deserve a lot of credit. We attempted some photos. We tried, they won. Oh well. The boys made it through mass with minimal "be quiet and sit still or no Easter basket for you" threats. Frances took her morning nap in my arms. It was pure heaven.

After church, the kids came home to find their Easter baskets. Each boy was excited about a different item in their basket - Ferrero Rocher candy for Henry (our little old man), a Yoda keychain for John, and a Daniel Tiger book for Peter. Frances found new bloomers, sunglasses, and a sleepsack in her basket. She was most excited about her new shades, in case anyone was wondering. Later we enjoyed a delicious Easter lunch prepared by Mimi. Then it was nap time for the kids and departure time for Papa, Mimi, and Zia.

Peter's First Haircut

At exactly two years and one month old, Peter had his first haircut. The night before, I took one last photo of his rat tail. And then just for fun, I put his long locks in a man-bun. I thought he looked like David Beckham. Gus said he looked like a sumo wrestler. Regardless, there was no doubt that it was time for a haircut.

On Saturday morning, we drove to Tommy's Barber Shop in Buckhead. Mr. Swift gave Henry and John their first haircuts, so we waited patiently for Peter's turn in Mr. Swift's chair. Peter has watched Henry and John get many haircuts before so he knew what was coming. It started out well and then quickly went downhill. We pulled out the lollipop bribe and that helped for awhile. And then it didn't. Mr. Swift had to work very swiftly. Peter's entourage cheered him on from the window. And then it was done, and my last baby boy had a big boy haircut. Per tradition, we walked to OK Cafe for brunch afterwards. Peter may have shed some tears that morning (and Mama tried not to), but everything is always ok at the OK Cafe.

A Mimi and Papa Park Playdate

Papa, Mimi, and Zia came to visit over Easter weekend. We spent one afternoon at our neighborhood park. The weather was beautiful and we did our best to ignore the pollen. Papa took the boys on "an adventure" to the lake, and Mimi happily snuggled Frances.

John's Easter Party

I volunteered to be the Easter party mom for John's preschool class. It was only his second day back to school after his surgery, but you wouldn't know it.  He was first out of the gate for the Easter egg hunt. And he did not stop running until the last egg was found. John found two of the coveted golden eggs. When he saw that his friend, Carter, did not find a golden egg, John gave him one of his. I was one proud Mama. After a story, the kids sat down for snack time. John still wasn't eating much solid food. But he saw me decorating the cupcakes at home that morning, so he was determine to eat a Peep. His snack included a Peep, frosting, and applesauce (talk about a sugar high!). After snack time, he sat down to read books with his friend, Rex. What a joy it is to spend time in your child's classroom.
