We have a winner!

I am happy to announce that Jennifer Wolfe is the winner of the Baby Mak Pool! Jennifer missed Henry's birthday (er, birth moment) by just 48 minutes. Jennifer, you will receive your cookies either one week from now or four days after I come out of my lack of sleep induced zombie like state, whichever is later.

Honorable mentions go to Papa Longo and me (looks like I already have parental intuition), each of whom correctly predicted the little man's birthday, and Mimi Longo and Steve Yzerman (what can I say...Henry has famous friends), each of whom correctly predicted Henry's weight and length. Thanks to everyone who put in a guess!

Introducing...

Henry Augustus Makris, who is named after his father's Great-Grandfather and Great-Uncles. He was born April 22nd, 2010 at 5:53 pm. He was 8 lbs, 8 ozs and 21 inches long. We are getting settled in at home and couldn't be more in love with our Henry.

Already sticking his tongue out for the camera...

Getting ready to go home and he's already telling me "No more pictures, Mama!"

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will meet my son. After carrying him for the past 286 days, it seems surreal that this day is finally here. All the preparations, the vitamins, the doctor's appointments, the prayers, the baby classes and baby books, the cravings, the backaches, and the kicks and hiccups were all part of a journey that really begins tomorrow. I feel incredibly blessed. Tomorrow I will meet my son, and I know with that first hello I will never be the same.

Your taxes are due...and so is my baby.

It's April 15th! While I should be lying here...

...I'm still lying here.

But that's okay by me. Life ain't so bad with a fashionably late baby. It's been 80 and sunny all week long in Atlanta, and we're expecting more of the same. I'm still sleeping fairly well. My belly might be huge, but I'm not that uncomfortable. My husband gives me daily backrubs without me asking. I have somehow managed to avoid the dreaded "end of the road" symptoms like cankles and 24/7 heartburn. Overall, there is much to be thankful for.

Our doctor has scheduled us for an induction on the 22nd, so I figure if I have one week left, I am going to cherish every last minute of this pregnancy. Having a happy, easy pregnancy means our newborn will be happy and easy going too, right? I think so, and that's why I'm getting off this computer, grabbing a popsicle, and heading back to my deck.

"Have you had that baby yet?"

Nope. I have eaten the eggplant parmesan and the hot wings, and I have walked miles upon miles, but Baby Mak is still sitting tight. It's too bad that constant nagging questions from loving family and friends does not induce labor. If it did, Baby Mak would have made his appearance about two weeks ago. So if you have the urge to call, email, or text me to ask whether I've had that baby yet, please click on the following website: http://www.haveyouhadthatbabyyet.com

He's a dancin' machine!

While attempting to relax on our back deck this week, my child decided to entertain me with his very own dance party. I caught a couple of his spin moves and fist pumps on video. When put to his father's favorite dance tune, you can see pretty clearly that Baby Mak already has his Dad's moves.

My View from the Top

No, that's not a turquoise covered basketball. That's my belly, and that's exactly what I see when I look down. I said goodbye to my feet a long time ago. Since I can't see my feet anymore, and I can't bend over, pregnancy certainly gives me a good excuse to get a pedicure. At least when I'm in labor, I'll know I have pretty, painted toes for the medical staff to admire. Now let's just hope that OPI's new Spring shade in coral pink provides a nice distraction from labor pains!

P.S. - If you like free cookies, click on the link to the right to enter a guess in the Baby Mak Birthday Pool. The winner gets a dozen of my famous (not really famous, but Gus thinks they should be) chocolate chip cookies!
