Egg Huntin'

"Francie, this is my preschool Easter egg hunt. Not yours. Because you're little, and you don't go to school. Okay, fine. You can have this one pink egg, Francie. All the rest are mine."

John is 6 years old!

Happy 6th Birthday, John Augustus! You love doing workbooks, reading Dogman books, and racing at anything. You are a creature of habit (not sure who you got that from), who likes to go to bed at 630PM every night and eat dry toast every morning for breakfast. You have a sweet, sensitive heart. And you already know how to treat a lady - "Here is a little yellow flower for you to take home to remember this day, Mama."

John's 6th Birthday

John's 6th birthday was extra special this year because it was our very last day in the apartment! As chaotic as packing and moving is, I tried to stick to our usual birthday traditions. John requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. He brought in brownies to school to share with his classmates. And later that night, he picked Mellow Mushroom Pizzeria for his special birthday dinner. Little did he know, we had his best friend, Connor, waiting at the restaurant to surprise John when he arrived! Even though his reaction doesn't show it, I promise John was more excited about Connor being there than he was about ordering a glass of Sprite. John is a self-proclaimed pizza and ice cream monster, so of course, we had ice cream cake in the shape of a Pokemon Pokeball for dessert. He received some very nice presents, but I think his favorite gift was his new house!

New pink shoes!

Yesterday this girl walked into the Church nursery, stuck out her foot, pointed her toe, and said, "Look! New pink shoes!"

Chester the Mouse

John's kindergarten class had "Storybook Character Day" this week. Each child chose a storybook character to dress up as, and then they presented an oral report on why they were like their character. John chose to be Chester the Mouse from the book, "Chester's Way". In this book, Chester likes everything to be done in a very particular way. He is a creature of habit. But he makes a new friend who pushes him to be more spontaneous and to try new things. You could say that John relates to Chester just a little bit. John was very specific about the costume too. I had to drive to several Thrift Stores to hunt for a red cardigan, red and white striped shorts, blue shoes, and a croquet mallet just like Chester.  Gus, Frances, and I attended the presentation at school. We couldn't have been more proud of Chester/John!
