Snow Day!

We woke up to our annual Georgia "snow" last Saturday. The prediction of 3 inches of snow was really 1 inch of ice. But that didn't stop our kids from begging to go outside from the moment they woke up! It took us thirty minutes to get everyone dressed. And we spent approximately 7 minutes playing outside. My kids have thin, Southern blood. Frances hated every minute of it. She was only happy being chauffeured around in her pink car (which must have four wheel drive). The boys each took turns sledding down our front hill. We have the most popular yard in the neighborhood on snow days.

After those exhilarating 7 minutes outside, the boys declared it was hot cocoa time. I'm pretty sure hot cocoa was the only reason we went outside in the first place. And thanks to that one inch of ice, the boys were out of school for 4 entire days! I know our Northern friends and family will get a kick out of that.

A Very Longo Christmas

Mimi and Papa came to visit and celebrate Christmas with us over New Years Weekend. We pretty much ignored New Years Eve and New Years Day, and just pretended it was Christmas all over again. We kept the Christmas carols playing, we decorated a gingerbread house (more like ate the decorations of a gingerbread house), and we made our traditional Italian feast for our Christmas Eve dinner. And of course, we enjoyed another Happy Birthday Jesus cake. The kids thought they hit the lottery with our two Christmases.

On our Christmas morning, the kids found a new pile of gifts under the tree. Sneaky Mimi had coded the gift tags, so they couldn't just grab and rip into them in 30 seconds. It was fun to watch them figure out the code and find their gifts. The boys each received legos, transformers, and lots of new family games to play. Frances asked the boys for a little help opening up her giant gift - a new play kitchen! The gifts kept on coming from Aunt Cathy and Uncle Joe too. Then it was time to play! My house had legos in the kitchen, hungry hippos in the keeping room, and twister in the den.

For breakfast, we made our traditional monkey bread and egg casserole, but the boys were more excited about the orange juice. In fact, Henry requested his regular breakfast of Cherrios and Bran Flakes, but made sure to down 3 glasses of OJ with it.
