Henry is 8 years old!
Happy 8th Birthday, Henry Augustus! You love reading Harry Potter books, trading Pokemon cards, and creating comic books with your friends. You are calm and focused. You wake up every day at 6AM, and you never like to finish your entire dessert. You are also silly and love a good joke (especially if it involves potty humor). You have a good, kind heart, and you will do great things, Henry Augustus.

Henry's 8th Birthday
Henry woke up on this 8th birthday in Charleston, South Carolina. I made sure to pack the birthday supplies. Henry requested "the little chocolate and white donuts in the bag" for his special breakfast, and Harry Potter everything. He even got his very own Harry Potter wand. We spent the day driving back to Atlanta, but when we returned home, we went out to dinner to celebrate the birthday boy. He requested "spaghetti with butter and meatballs" for his birthday dinner. Henry is a man of simple requests. For dessert he wanted chocolate cake with vanilla icing, but he was very specific about the design. He even searched Harry Potter cake designs on Pinterest! Henry Potter was very pleased with how his cake turned out in the end.

A Family Wedding in Charleston
We spent this weekend in Charleston for my cousin's wedding. And I got to celebrate my own 36th birthday there on the night of the rehearsal dinner. Nanna made sure there were cupcakes afterwards because she knows me very well.
The morning of the wedding, we spent some time at the beach. It was still pretty chilly, but that did not stop the boys. We planned on just sticking our toes in the sand, and barely wading in the water so we could go to brunch afterwards. That did not happen. They were soaking wet within five minutes. But their shrieks and smiles made up for it. Until Peter fell in, and just as quickly as it begun, it ended. And where was Frances this whole time? She was snuggled up with Nanna. She took one look at the cold water and said, "all done". Smart girl.
Later that day, we all got cleaned up and Cousin Kevin married the lovely Karen. Our lucky family gained South Carolina cousins, who are about the same age as our kids. The wedding was very kid friendly - a chicken nugget tray, a playground, a balloon artist, a cookie buffet. Peter spent the most time on the dance floor, requesting dances from Nanna, Aunt Elaine, Aunt Mary, and Kennedy (his new cousin). The other three didn't love to dance, so they raided the cookie buffet instead. Our kids declared, "we love weddings!" by the end of the night.
We are so very happy for Kevin and Karen, and can't wait to spend more time with our SC cousins!

Flood 2.0
We celebrated moving into our new house the same way we celebrated moving out, with a flood! This celebration was much smaller, and it didn't last very long, but it was just like ol' times. Fans, ripped up floors, dehumidifiers - all the memories came flooding back. And it gave Henry something to write about, too.

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter from the Makris Family! And yes, I did use packing paper to stuff their Easter baskets this year. Take that Pinterest!
