Makris Movies

My videocamera has been quite busy lately. If my kids weren't so cute, I wouldn't have to buy so many batteries for the darn thing.

Henry is obsessed with Thomas the Train books. We read them every morning, afternoon, and evening. We read them so much that everyone, including Henry, has memorized them. I think this means we need some new books.

After reading, Henry likes to check-in on Thomas and his friends by giving them a call. Here, he calls Gordon (the big blue engine). And I should add Henry is sans clothes due only to an impromptu decision to play with the hose in the backyard. Keeping it klassy.

Every afternoon when Henry wakes from his nap, he asks for Bebe John. Typically I have just fed John, so he's downstairs "playing." Henry's search for Bebe John makes me smile everytime.

A good big brother teaches his little brother the ways of the world. Peering over the kitchen counter one day, I found Henry "reading" to Bebe John, but by the time I grabbed my camera, Henry decided to finish up the book. But then I caught the real life lesson: the importance of upside down.

It only took 8 weeks...

...to get the first photo of both my boys smiling at their goofy Daddy. Sure, it's on my iPhone and Henry is wearing Valentine's Day monkey pajamas in May, but what's not to love?

John is 2 months old!

Likes: Sleeping through the night (10pm-8am! Mama says Hallelujah!), smiling, cooing, sucking on my hands, being held up on a shoulder, staring at lights or ceiling fans, eating like a champ (as evidenced by my thunder thighs), kicking my legs, and going for walks in the stroller.

Dislikes: The booger sucker, the Baby Bjorn, burping (because it requires me to stop eating), and getting my arms out of the swaddle.

Growth: I weigh 13 lbs., 2 oz., and I am 24 inches long. This puts me in the 90th percentile for both weight and height. Mama thinks this is wonderful because there is more of me to love, especially my chubby cheeks and multiple chins.

A Double Makris Baptism

We celebrated John and George's baptism last weekend. The entire Makris family came into town for the occasion, and it was the first time that all five cousins were together. On Saturday, we enjoyed some fun at Uncle Chris and Aunt Stacie's pool and a delicious barbecue afterwards.

On Sunday, John put on the same baptismal romper and bonnet that Henry wore, and he looked just as darling. Henry was ecstatic to discover that his new church shoes made a loud noise when he stomped his feet, so he did a lot of tap dancing throughout the day.

John and George were baptized at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. John's godparents are my dear friends, Matt Phillips and Lauren Dykes. Matt and I have been friends since high school, and he also served as the "Man of Honor" at my wedding. Lauren and I met at church while we were pregnant with Henry and Colin. We gave birth to our second sons just ten days apart. George's Godparents are Uncle Alex and Aunt Anna.

After the baptism, we came back to our house for a celebration lunch. We enjoyed Greek food and some Makris party staples: candy, Coca-Cola, and punch. John was definitely partied out by the end of the day.

John and Nanna

John sure loves his Nanna and all her talk about taking Henry's toys.

Hilton Head Island

We spent last week playing in the sun and the sand on Hilton Head Island. Gus attended a work conference, and we tagged along. Luckily, we have a Nanna and Pa who are happy to travel with us. I was a bit nervous about managing both a 2 year old and 7 week old at the beach. It turns out that I have 2 beach babies on my hands: one who loves to sleep by the ocean and one who loves to play in the ocean. Henry loved running into the surf, jumping in the waves, splashing in the puddles, and digging in the sand. His favorite beach companion was Pa, and he let the entire beach know it by shouting "Pa! Water!" every 2 minutes.

We also celebrated Mother's Day at the beach, and John (once again) delivered the most perfect gift: 10 straight hours of sleep! My boy really knows when to turn on the charm. Spending Mother's Day with my own Mama made the trip even more wonderful.
