Snackin' and Splashin'

Gus has been kind enough to wake up with Henry in the mornings so that John and I can sleep an extra hour (pregnancy with two toddlers is exhausting). While we're snoozing, Henry and Daddy eat breakfast and spell some words. Daddy finds some pretty funny words.

Splashing is encouraged during bath time, but we should consider wearing bathing suits.

#3!

That's right, by the end of February we'll have 3 under 4!  It looks like Baby Mak #3 could arrive 23 months and 1 day after John arrived, which is something, since John arrived 23 months and 1 day after Henry.  Our home is about to get a whole lot louder, dirtier, and crazier, and I can't wait.

Henry's First Day of Preschool

Henry started 3 year old preschool on August 12th, 2013. That morning he had a special breakfast: sprinkle pancakes! He insisted that I sing "Happy First Day of School to you," and I happily obliged. He must have been in the mood for school, because as he was chowing down, he shouted, "Mama, look! There's an 'A' on my pancake!"

Once Henry was dressed and his bedhead was tamed, we snapped a couple photos, and then drove to school. I walked him down the hallway, then he hung up his book bag on a hook, hugged and waved goodbye, walked in his classroom, found his name tag, and started talking to the other kids. He never looked back.

But I do.

Special Day

Before Henry started preschool, I wanted to have a special day with just the two of us. It started with an open house at Henry's school. He met his teachers, made a craft, and played with his classmates. After that, we visited the Marietta Square, where we played in the train park and strolled by the train tracks.

Then lunch. I told Henry we would go where ever he wanted to go, and he picked Moe's. (I was hoping for Chipotle - bummer.) Why Moe's? Daddy told Henry that the employees shout, "Welcome to Moes!" every time someone walks in the door, and he wanted to hear it. And say it. And so he did. Again and again.

The grand finale was a trip to the ice cream shop. Henry had the usual: chocolate ice cream with gummy worms, "m-nem-m's", skittles, chocolate chips, and sprinkles. A special day with my special boy.

Playing in Perrydise

Last weekend we went south to Perry, GA and spent the weekend at Nanna and Pa's house. We were lucky enough to spend some time with Uncle Bobby, Aunt Mary, and Cousin Kevin, too. The boys swam in the pool, ate doughnuts and cookies, played with trains and Elmo, climbed on construction equipment, and stayed up late. A typically wonderful weekend in Perry-dise.

Loco for Locomotives

Like most three-year-old boys, Henry is obsessed with trains. Last week we met our friends Bobby, Bella, Colin, and Will at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History (or as Henry called it, "the train museum"). There was a special program on Thomas the Train, and our boys were thrilled. They danced, chugged, and crafted in a room filled with trains and train tables and train-loving-toddlers. Henry is asking when we can go back.
