Peter's First Birthday!

We celebrated Peter's first birthday with a snow day at home. The boys woke up to party hats, balloons, and sprinkle pancakes. Henry and John talk a lot about their own birthdays so they were very eager to celebrate Peter. There was lots of singing, and they played in their party hats all morning. Peter enjoyed his balloons the most, especially trying to pop them.

After the snow melted, we ventured out for Peter's special birthday dinner. We went to Chick-Fil-A. It doesn't get more special than chicken nuggets, waffle fries, fruit cups, and ice cream cones. Peter had his first taste of ice cream. He made a funny face after his first bite, but he kept coming back for more.

What a wonderful day as a family to celebrate Peter's first year. And there was even more celebrating later that weekend at Peter's birthday party!

Watch Peter Grow: The Video Edition

A first birthday tradition is the video.  We watch it at the end of the birthday party.  I did our family and friends a favor and kept it under 15 minutes.  That's a tough task for a Mama.

Peter is 12 months old!

Likes: Standing up in a chair and then plopping down, walking with help from my walker, playing musical instruments, reading my favorite books - Baby Woof Woof or B is for Bear, eating animal crackers, grits, pickles, fish sticks, and berries by the carton, playing in the toy kitchen, emptying Mama's drawers in the real kitchen, and giving open mouth kisses.

Dislikes: Bonking my head, which I do a lot because I am a wild man.

Growth: I weigh 23 lbs., 6 oz., and I am 31 inches tall. This puts me in the 80th percentile for weight and the 90th percentile for height.  In my first year, I put on almost 15 pounds and grew over 10 inches!

Snow Day

On Tuesday we woke up to snow. School was cancelled, and the boys were begging to go outside. I spent 15 minutes in the attic searching for the snow clothes. I spent 30 minutes getting everyone dressed. The boys spent 7 minutes outside playing in the snow. And if you asked them what they liked best about our snow day, their answer would be, "Hot cocoa. With extra marshmallows."

Sunday Dance Party

After church the boys change clothes so that lunch doesn't end up on their nice pants.  And then sometimes they dance.  This was one of those times.

Tellus Science Museum

Last weekend we took the boys to Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville. Henry and John dug for dinosaur bones, mined gemstones, wore space suits, and visited the planetarium. They were most impressed with the coin drop toy in the lobby. Henry assumed his natural museum pose - hands clasped behind his back. Peter cruised around the exhibits and tried to teethe on anything he could grab.

Valentine's Day

Henry celebrated Valentine's Day with his classmates on Friday.  Everyone brought Valentines.  Henry's included a "bouncy ball".  He was pretty excited.  He carefully signed each one, using pink marker for the girls and red marker for the boys (his idea). Henry gave Ms. Libbie and Ms. Chantele some chocolates. He came home from school with a gift from the class, a painted plate to thank me for being the Room Mom.

On Saturday, the boys woke up to Valentines and heart shaped pancakes (and I woke up to roses). While Peter napped that morning, Henry and John baked cupcakes. They are not easily persuaded to try new things, so no one was willing to lick the bowl. Joke's on them. They didn't have any problem eating the frosting or sprinkles though. At one point, John offered to lick Henry's hand clean of frosting. And then asked for, "just one more bite?"

For dinner we enjoyed our thirteenth Valentine's Day at Cracker Barrel. It was Peter's first time, and he was a natural born biscuit eater.  Henry enjoyed his biscuit, too.  But coming in first place, with three biscuits consumed, and still your champion, John.
