May the Force be with you.

The boys chose our Halloween theme this year. I suspect this will be the last year for matching themed costumes, but that's okay. This year's costumes were pretty darn fabulous. The boys are obsessed with Star Wars. They have yet to watch the movies, but have read several books. They chose their characters months in advance. Well, Peter and Frances didn't really get a choice. Henry and John picked Chewbacca for Peter since "he's cray cray!" And Princess Leia was the obvious choice for Frances.

On Halloween, we walked to our neighborhood clubhouse for a pizza party. Mimi and Papa were in town, which meant that we were man-on-man so that was a huge help. The boys ate pizza, played on the playground, danced in the parking lot, and ran around with their friends. Frances enjoyed all the attention from our neighbors, who ooohed and ahhhed over her fabulous hairdo. Then it was time for the main event. This was Peter's first year trick-or-treating. Our little wookie tried to keep up, but Henry and John ran quickly from house to house. Peter eventually went home with Papa and Mimi to pass out candy (and eat his fair share), while Daddy carried on with Henry and John. At the end of the night, everyone gathered in the kitchen to sort through their loot.

Jack-o-Laterns

The boys were very excited to carve pumpkins this year. Papa was in town, and he was excited to carve pumpkins too. We gathered up the supplies, headed outside, and the boys took off to play in the backyard. Luckily Papa and Daddy didn't mind doing most of the work. John and Peter were interested in the pumpkin guts, but Henry was not - "Gross!" Henry and John each drew a scary design on their pumpkins, while Daddy and Papa did the carving. I helped Peter with his P is for Peter pumpkin. And of course, Frances got her own baby pumpkin too.

My Four Little Pumpkins

Last weekend, we took our annual drive out to the country to visit the pumpkin patch. It was our first outing as a family of six. And quite an ambitious outing with a 5 year old, 3 year old, 20 month old, and 1 week old.  But a great time was had by all.  The boys ran around the farm, visited the animals, rode the tractor, and picked pumpkins. Henry and John were interested in quality - they wanted big pumpkins with a nice "face" for carving. Peter was more interested in quantity - he filled our wagon with 14 pumpkins. Frances ate and slept her way through her first pumpkin patch visit. Thanks to Grandma and Papou for the festive outfits!
