Pink Toes for Disney

One of the things Frances has been looking forward to most about going to Disney World is getting a princess makeover at the Bippidy Boppidy Boutique in Cinderella's Castle. They do her hair and makeup, and paint her nails. She assumed this meant toes too, so she has talked about "getting pink nails and pink toes at Disney World" for months. Well, turns out, it's just a manicure, not a pedicure. So to avoid a meltdown at Disney World, I promised to take her for her first pedicure before our trip. She picked out the most pink princess dress she could find, and took her time picking just the perfect shade of pink nailpolish at the nail salon. They filled up the water in the little girls spa chair and asked her to sit down. And then she freaked. Totally chickened out. She watched me get my pedicure, but she refused to have her toes painted. I thought that was the end of that. Until we came home and she cried that she didn't have pink toes like Mama. So I made a makeshift nail salon in her bathroom and gave her her very first pedicure myself. She couldn't have been happier to have pink toes. She kept bending over and staring at them all night long. And now she and her pink toes are ready for Disney World!

Mickey's House

For the past few years, every time my kids would watch a Disney movie, they would point to the castle in the opening credits and shout, “There’s Mickey house! We get to go there when Frances is 3 and she uses the potty!” And now in 3 days, we will be going to Mickey’s house for the first time. Let’s just hope Frances can fit all those dresses in her suitcase. A big thanks to Mimi and Papa for agreeing to endure this crazy week with us!

"You sure have your hands full!"

She told me she was going to Target. And then she got so frustrated trying to push one baby in the stroller, carry another baby in the car seat, and manage her shopping basket. I get it, girl.

A Very Georgia Christmas

On Christmas Eve-Eve, I came down with the stomach flu. It lasted 3 days, so unfortunately I spent the majority of Christmas Eve and Christmas day in bed. Thankfully Gus, Nanna, and Pa made sure Christmas went on without a hitch. They attended mass on Christmas Eve, and they went out for our traditional breakfast-for-dinner meal. Then they came home to put on Christmas pajamas, read The Night Before Christmas, and put out cookies/carrots for Santa and his reindeer. On Christmas morning, we were all up by 6:30AM. The kids waited patiently at the top of the stairs so we could make sure Santa had come. As usual, they raced down the stairs and the squealing and shouting and chaos of present opening began. I was able to sit on the couch and watch the joyful madness for a bit. Our kids special ornaments for the year were all about their new interests - Harry Potter for Henry, basketball for John, tennis for Peter, and ballet for Frances. We stayed in our pajamas all day long, which was glorious. Nanna prepared Christmas dinner for everyone, and the kids sang Happy Birthday to Jesus at the end of the day. It wasn't the first Christmas in our new home that I was picturing, but the good news is that thanks to my quarantine, no one else got sick!
