Who wore it better?
Sometimes school projects can be a real drag for parents. But you will never hear this mom complain when there are wigs involved. “Mama, I think Botticelli didn’t smile because he had such a bad haircut.”

Henry's 9th Birthday
On his 9th birthday, Henry came downstairs in his Harry Potter pajamas to find Harry Potter balloons and his requested birthday breakfast: Lucky Charms! I always let the kids pick whatever special breakfast they would like on their birthdays. Henry took advantage of that because he knows that I never buy Lucky Charms unless it's Christmas or we are on vacation! Later that night, he requested something a little more healthy for his birthday dinner: spaghetti and meatballs (with no sauce), steamed broccoli and cauliflower, and corn. His siblings were not as excited about the vegetable requests!
The next weekend, Henry Potter and his best buddies celebrated his 9th Birthday doing what 9 year old boys do best - running around like maniacs until they were drenched in sweat, eating every last slice of pizza, cracking up when someone burped, and requesting slices of cake with the most frosting. The next day Henry told me, “You know, for being a muggle, you did a pretty good job with my Harry Potter party.”

Henry is 9 years old!
Happy 9th Birthday, Henry Augustus! You are an old soul. You love to read for hours, while wearing your fuzzy, plaid bathrobe. Your favorite foods include mushy green beans and lentils. You hate to throw anything out, which sometimes drives me crazy, but it’s just because you’re a sentimental guy with a big heart. You are calm, smart, and kind, and I love who you are growing up to be.

Happy Easter!
Overheard in the kitchen today.
Gus: Peter, put your glass in the sink.
Peter (5): Uh! Why are you having us do all this hard work today?
Gus: I’m afraid you do not know what hard work is. Not yet, anyway.
Peter: Oh yes I do.
Gus: You do not.
Peter: Oh yes I do.
Gus: Do not.
Peter: Oh yes. I do. How about the time Jesus carried the cross way up the hill, all the way, huh? That’s hard work.
Gus: Is your glass in the sink?
Happy Easter, y’all!

Easter Egg Huntin'
Thankful for my neighbor friends who planned the sweetest, and possibly most successful neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Frances didn’t scream or cry at sight of the Easter bunny (instead she squeezed the life out of her brother’s hand and nervously gritted her teeth), Peter shared his golden eggs, and John and Henry proved just how quickly they can find things when they really want to find them.

A Staycation for Spring Break
Last week for Spring Break, we were tourists in our own city with our friends and family. The aquarium and the zoo were fun and all, but have you ever dined at Sublime Doughnuts, Mary Mac’s Tea Room, The Varsity, and OK Cafe all in one week? Because that’s when you can call yourself a true Georgian.
