Henry's New Hangout

We are all moved in to our new home, and Henry has fallen in love with the backyard. Our new morning routine includes play-doh on the screened-in porch, throwing balls in the grass, wagon rides around the neighborhood, and running up and down the driveway to see if the gate is open (it's not and that part drives Henry crazy).

We have also been enjoying daily swims at the neighborhood pool. It's a five minute walk from our house, and all that water time is getting Henry excited for our upcoming trip to Michigan. We leave on Friday to spend a few days with the Makris family in Lewiston, then a couple days with the Longo family at Lake LeAnn, and then Mama and Dada are taking (our first) trip without Henry. We are heading to Mackinac Island for a couple days, and then on to Glen Arbor for a wedding. This Makris family is ready for some time in the Mitten!

Moving is fun!

I do not think moving is fun at all, but Henry seems to disagree. What's not to love about empty kitchen cupboards to play in?

Our official moving day is this Saturday, and then the real fun begins!

Home Sweet Home

July 29th is turning into a historically significant date for the Makris family. On this date five years ago, Gus proposed. Exactly five years later, we bought our very first home! The house is everything we wanted in a home: great schools, a decent commute for Gus, and a neighborhood full of young families. It's located in East Cobb, which is about twelve miles northeast from where we live now. We feel so blessed and fortunate that this is the next move for our family. And did I mention the picket fence? Mama loves the charm and the fact that it keeps Henry fenced in. Southern Living at its finest!

The Two Stooges

I don't know what is more hilarious: Henry's laugh, or Gus' facial expressions. I do know this - I love them both.

Fourth of July in the Mitten

Last week we were in Michigan to celebrate my Grandma Fran's life, and we decided to stay through the long weekend to spend the Fourth of July with my family. We enjoyed lunch at a Michigan staple, National Coney Island. Henry enjoyed the funny mirrors, but not the cheese fries; he happily dined on lima beans instead. We also enjoyed a humidity free day at the park, which certainly doesn't happen at home. Henry loved the slides - both going down and climbing back up. Dada enjoyed the swings and showed off his jumping skills. By the end of the afternoon, Henry looked all boy and no baby with his sweaty head and rosy cheeks.

On the Fourth, we grilled out at Mimi and Papa's house with the Longo family. Henry also had a photoshoot in Mimi's old rocking chair from her childhood. And if that picture wasn't enough to melt Mimi's heart, Henry took it one step further and said "Mimi" for the first time! He already says "Zia" (probably 50 times a day!), so now we've got to work on "Papa" next. After lunch, I tried to convince Henry that popsicles are delicious. It took a lot of convincing. After a few tastes, he gave me the finger (to tell me where he was going!) and made it clear that he would rather run down the sidewalk than enjoy a popsicle.
