John's 5th Birthday

John woke up before sunrise on his 5th birthday. Henry is an early riser too, so the two of them enjoyed sprinkle donuts together. Peter and Frances woke up later, and they were thrilled with the breakfast menu. The boys kept teasing Francie about her chocolate beard.

John requested a Lionguard celebration. He likes the TV show, but loves the soundtrack even more. The masks were a hit with everyone. And they were pretty hilarious. John also requested a Lionguard cookie cake to take his school for his birthday celebration with his class.

After school, Daddy picked up John for a special lunch date. John picked Chick-fil-a for lunch and Coldstone for ice cream afterwards. Normally we would all go out to dinner together to the birthday boy's choice, but we had a schedule conflict. We had a big fundraiser for Gus' campaign that evening that we had to attend. But John did not seem to mind, as it's pretty special to get a date with Daddy all by yourself right now!

Later that afternoon, John opened his gifts. And he did so with much enthusiasm! He received Lego set after Lego set. And workbooks. Because this kid actually asked for them for his birthday because he "needs more worksheets to do during quiet time." Ask and you shall receive, sweet John!
