Tour de Michigan 2011: Back to the Mack!

On our final leg of the Mitten tour, we spent a couple days on Mackinac Island. We were last there in July 2006 when Gus proposed. Sentiments aside, I think Mackinac Island must be pretty close to Heaven. I adore the charm of Main Street, the clip-clop of the horses, the crystal clear waters, and the grandness that is the Grand Hotel. Plus, who doesn't love a place where homemade fudge is constantly wafting through the air?!

We stayed at the very same place where we were engaged: The Inn at Stonecliffe. It is a quiet, out of the way bed-and-breakfast with beautiful views of the Mackinac Bridge. A visit there is not complete without a walk to Sunset Rock to watch the sunset (and remember where Gus proposed). We also rode bikes around the island, and I braved the freezing waters of the Great Lakes. Later in the day we stopped by the Grand Hotel so I could enjoy afternoon tea in the parlor and Gus could enjoy the Michigan game in the bar. We hope to bring Henry back one day to experience the magic that is Mackinac!

The Tour de Michigan 2011 was not complete until our final stop in Glen Arbor, where we celebrated the wedding of our dear friends, Lauren and Corey. No better way to end a vacation than spending all night on the dance floor with the bride and groom! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Bruno!
