A Very Makris Christmas

During our trip to Michigan, we celebrated James' 1st birthday with the Makris family. All five cousins wrestled, destroyed the play room, and ate. Poor James was frightened by the candle on his cupcake, so he snacked on an ice cream cone instead. Henry, George, and John had no trouble eating their cupcakes and ice cream cones. And Peter snacked on some peas.

On Christmas Eve morning, we went to the hockey rink to watch Daddy play in the Annual Old Man Invitational. John does not like being cold, so he was not a happy spectator. Luckily Papou was there to carry him around - "Holda me. Picka me up, Papou." Peter wore his Detroit Red Wings jersey from Mr. Scott. Our Georgia boys don't have a hockey team to root for, so they can adopt the Red Wings.

On Christmas afternoon, Daddy took the boys to the Makris home to open presents and eat Christmas dinner. I was still in bed with the flu, so Uncle Joe took photos for me. The boys received books, puzzles, games, trucks, and an entire winter wardrobe. They spent the rest of the day playing with their new toys and running around with their cousins. We gave Grandma and Papou canvases of the two newest grandkids. The wall of canvases (and row of stockings) grows larger each year.

The day after Christmas, Grandma and Papou hosted lunch for the extended Makris family. Aunt Margaret brought finger lights for the boys, and I don't think Henry took them off until bedtime.

Before we left Grandma and Papou's house, Henry showed off his reading skills. He's really starting to get it.  It's exciting!
