1st Grade!

Today was Henry's first day of first grade. He and John were up before sunrise. They remembered that we always have sprinkle pancakes on the first day of school.  And of course, Mama lights a candle in the pancakes and sings "Happy first day of school to you!"  I wonder how long they're going to let me get away with that.

Henry could not have been happier to return to school.  He is in a class with many neighborhood and preschool friends. And he's excited to spend one day a week in his Target class (the gifted program).  He's mainly excited because "my Target classroom is in a trailer, and you get to build a robot!" I am relieved that he likes to learn and enjoys going to school every day.  It was much easier to put him on the bus this year than last year!

When he came home that afternoon, I had warm chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven.  John was happy to partake in all of these delicious back-to-school traditions.  Henry told us very little about his day (typical), but said it was a great one!
