A Very Makris Christmas

The Makris "boys" and their friends have rented the local ice rink on Christmas Eve for the last several years, and this year was no different. Henry and John are looking forward to the year when he can put put on some skates and embarrass the Old Men. Although I'm not sure that will happen. Thems Georgia boys, and Georgia boys don't play no hockie.

On Christmas day, the five Makris grandchildren opened their gifts together. Five minutes of furious unwrapping preceded a few hours of playing with new toys, puzzles, and books. That night we gathered for a homemade Greek feast: avgolemono soup, and pastitio, and spanokopita, Opa! (Say it like "lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!" for added effect.)

The boys had fun with their cousins. Sledding and playing in the snow (Mr. Dave, Gus' childhood friend, came by and taught Henry how to throw a snowball); celebrating George's first birthday; bath time for five; a pajama party; and playing and posing with their second cousins.

Next up, a very Georgia Christmas with Nanna and Pa!

  1. What fun that looks like! Very hectic I'm sure but how cool to have 5 grand kids growing up together and making these memories :-) I also didn't realize the guys all played hockey on Christmas Eve; what a fun tradition!
