Deck the Halls!

We had our annual trim the tree party last weekend, complete with all my favorite traditions. We dressed for the occasion in our new Christmas pajamas. Christmas carols and a pine scented Yankee candle filled the air (almost the same as a real tree). Henry snacked happily on the "fancy" box of Pepperidge Farm cookies, but he passed on his first cup of hot chocolate (mind boggling). John snacked happily on ornaments. We taught Henry how to hang the ornaments "all by his big boy self;" he could not have been more proud. And once the boys were in bed, Gus and I sifted through the boxes to find ornaments from Christmas past.

The next morning the very first words out of Henry's mouth were, "Decorate the Christmas tree, Mama!" The poor kid was devastated to walk downstairs and realize all the ornaments were already on the tree. Luckily, I was prepared with something else to decorate: a gingerbread house! He might have liked this activity more since it involved eating candy and licking icing.
